Trump supporters faced a small group of people wearing black and carrying a flag with Antifa symbols on it, local television station KSWB reported.
Police sent agents in riot gear to the Pacific Beach boardwalk to quell the unrest. Videos of the scene show members of both groups pushing and yelling at each other and a person in black clothing spraying a chemical irritant on another person. Several people are also seen throwing bottles or other items during the melee.

San Diego Police said officers had been hit with bottles and other items such as eggs and stones were also thrown.

Some Trump supporters have blamed Antifa for the violence in the Capitol, a claim that federal law enforcement officers were shot late last week.
Several Trump supporters were arrested last weekend in connection with Wednesday’s riots.
San Diego police have not announced any arrests as a result of Saturday’s clash.
“We will continue to monitor both groups to help facilitate peaceful protests. However, we will not tolerate acts of violence,” the department said in a statement. “When rocks, bottles, pepper spray and other items are thrown or used on our officers, actions will be taken against those who commit violent acts.”
