DC Health Director Warns About COVID-19 Vaccine Scams

Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, director of DC Health, warned not to fool residents on Monday through offers to buy a vaccine dose privately.

There is a scam against the coronavirus, and district officials want Washingtonians to be on the alert.

Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, director of DC Health, warned not to fool residents on Monday by offers to buy a vaccine dose privately.

Vaccines and vaccine suppliers must be vetted and approved by the DC’s Department of Health.

“And the only places you can get a vaccine are through hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and doctor’s offices and authorized on-site clinics through a registered and approved provider,” said Nesbitt.

“There are no off-site sales of vaccines, no one is going to have to buy a vaccine at the price and have it administered by someone who sees themselves as a healthcare provider or otherwise.”

She urged people who have seen or been contacted by the scam and who have offered a vaccine to call DC Police at 202-727-4159.

“We want to ensure that all our residents have equitable access to vaccines in the District of Columbia. And we would like all scams to be reported, ”said Nesbitt.
