David Beckham’s Inter Miami Loses First Legal Battle With Inter Milan Over Name Use In MLS | Other football leagues

David Beckham is collecting problems in his new team, Inter Miami, of the MLS.

The Brit had a terrible year 2020 in terms of results, finishing in 10th place out of 14 participants in the Eastern Conference, and this season it doesn’t look like the outlook will improve either. But that’s not your only headache.

On Monday he received a severe legal blow in the lawsuit he is conducting with Inter Milan for trademark infringement. The Italian club claims that the term Inter is synonymous with their squad and whoever wants to use their name has to pay for it.

Just in 2014, the European club filed a trademark application with the United States Patent Trademark Office, a legal battle they just won. A final appeal to the USPTO is now pending for Inter Miami to reverse the decision, which involves a humiliating name change and the millionaire cost to Beckham and Co. to customize all club logos and marketing materials.
