Daughter of Lombardi Trophy designer wants an apology from Tom Brady

Tom Brady’s Lombardi Trophy boat throw that went viral on Wednesday didn’t go down well with a Fort Myers, Florida woman who said the throw was an insult to her family’s legacy.

“It just upset me that this trophy was disgraced and disrespected for being thrown like it was a real football,” Lorraine Grohs told Fox4.

During the Buccaneers’ boat parade on the Hillsborough River to celebrate Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl 2021 victory over the Chiefs, the 43-year-old quarterback threw the Lombardi Trophy off his yacht at someone on another boat.

That upset Grohs, who is the daughter of Greg Grohs, the master silversmith at Tiffany and Company from 1967 to 1994, who designed the first Vince Lombardi Trophy.

She said the seven-time Super Bowl champion disrespected the trophy and the people working on it.

“I have a long history of my dad making this trophy and it’s such an honor and I know all the craftsmen who made it when my dad was there at Tiffany’s and it takes a lot of hard work,” said Grohs.

Grohs wants Brady to say he’s sorry.

“Personally, I would like an apology, not just to me and my family and the other silversmiths, but also to the fans, all the football fans and the other team players,” she said.

Groh told the network that Brady’s trophy throw upset her so much that she had sleepless nights about him dealing with the passion that put her father so lightly into the trophy.

“I’ve seen this trophy made at Tiffany’s factory and it’s a beautiful trophy,” said Grohs. “My father had to chisel the seams. He had to chisel the seams by hand. There is a newspaper article showing that he is working on that trophy. The ball is shaped by hand and so is the base. Grohs explained.

Grohs, who said she’s not a big football fan, is always waiting for the Super Bowl to end so she can watch the Lombardi Trophy celebration going to the Super Bowl winner.

“I’m just watching the game to see how the trophy will turn out,” she said. “I like to see all the owners and football players just holding it up with such pride and showing it to everyone and I get goosebumps. … Like right now I get goosebumps. “

Brady also drew more attention when he needed help from an escort to walk as he returned to land after the boozy boat parade.

But it looks like Brady is done partying and ready to go back to work.

On Saturday, he teamed up with trainer Alex Guerrero again, according to a photo posted by TB12 Sports on Twitter. It contained the hashtag # EyesOn8.
