Danica Patrick’s split with Aaron Rodgers devastated her to the point where she was ‘broken open’.
The former NASCAR driver reflected on the split, saying that while it left her heartbroken, it taught her a lot about herself.
“I think we learn most about ourselves through relationships, but there’s nothing like heartbreak to really throw you in there,” she said on Monday’s episode of “Running Wild With Bear Grylls”.
“But I’ve learned a lot and as sad as I was, I’ve felt so much joy in so many more cases and in so many more unlikely places than ever before, so it’s like my heart was broken open at both ends of the spectrum.”
In the end, she relied on her family to heal her heart.
[My dad is] always super proud of me, ”she said. ‘My mother too. My sister. I am really lucky to have a family that supports me enormously. You gotta have someone you can fall apart with, you know? “
Patrick, 39, and the Green Bay Packers quarterback, 37, were first linked in 2018 and their relationship got serious from then on. The former couple bought a $ 28 million estate in Malibu in December 2019, but the big bucks purchase wasn’t enough to keep them together.
Patrick’s rep confirmed to Page Six in July 2020 that Patrick and Rodgers had split up.
The NFL player eventually moved on with now-fiancé Shailene Woodley, whom he met in quarantine. The “Big Little Lies” star confirmed in February 2021 that she and the soccer star were engaged.
Shortly after, Patrick shared a cryptic message on social media about relationships.
“Your relationships are mirrors,” said Patrick. “We cannot receive what we do not believe. (I’ve made that up now, but I’m sure I’m not the first.) We see all of life through our own personal lens. What you seek is seeking you. You get what you think you deserve. When you change, the things you see change. Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right. “
