There is a jaw-dropping holiday display on Belmont Avenue in Dallas that serves as a bit of a time machine for many.
“The answer was exactly what we wanted. People honk their horns and wave at us from the window, ”Katie Milam said. “We wanted to spread glee, foolishness and playfulness.”
Katie and husband Mike transformed their home into a giant Nintendo game system – complete with a Super Mario Brothers game playing on an improvised television screen.
“It had to be Mario 3,” Milam smiled. “We love the classics.”
It has served as a great source of joy to the dozens of people who stopped by to take photos.
“We hope that people who come by with their kids in the car can tell them and that it sparks off childhood conversations and ‘I remember playing Super Mario,’” said Milam. And if someone is having a bad day. You want them to drive by and hopefully smile. Brings a little joy to people’s lives. “
