It was big news when Dakota Johnson won the role of Anastasia Steele, the heroine of the Fifty shades novels by EL James, for their adaptation on the big screen. Next Jamie Dornan as Christian Gray, she starred in all three films in the trilogy between 2015 and 2018. The books and movies revolve around Christian introducing Anastasia to the world of BDSM and falling in love, so there are plenty of intense love scenes in the franchise. When the actor spoke Marie Claire in February 2018 she chose a series from that year Fifty shades liberated, the third film in the trilogy, as “by far the most difficult”. The scene takes place in Christian’s Red Room, where he holds Anastasia in check.
“I was handcuffed to the gate with my arms and legs,” recalls Johnson while filming the scene. ‘It’s like a gate coming down. And I was blindfolded. ‘

Johnson explained in the Marie Claire interview that while shooting Fifty shades, she wore a strapless thong during sex scenes to “feel like she was covered.” It was meant to stick to her body, but it wouldn’t always stay in place.
“[The thong] would also come off because the glue would wear out, so they would stick it to my body so it wouldn’t fall off, “she said.” It’s not painful, I mean, it’s hardly a thing … It’s f *** weird. “
Johnson also opened up to the magazine about how she and Dornan worked with experts who understood “how to use certain tools and toys” to accurately portray the practice of BDSM.
