Cyberpunk Maker CD Projekt sued by investor for botched launch

CD Projekt SA, the Polish video game publisher of Cyberpunk 2077, was sued by an investor who claims the company misled him about the potential of the bug-ridden game whose failed release this month caused its stock to plummet.

Andrew Trampe sued in federal court in Los Angeles on Thursday and wants to represent other investors who bought the company’s securities.

CD Projekt did not reveal that Cyberpunk 2077 was “virtually unplayable on the current generation of Xbox or Playstation systems due to a huge number of bugs,” the complaint said. As a result, Sony Corp. Cyberpunk 2077 from the Playstation Store and Sony, Microsoft Corp. and forced the company to offer full refunds for the game, the complaint said.

The company’s US certificates fell 25% in the three days after Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10. They fell an additional 16% after Sony pulled the game from the PlayStation store on December 18.

CD Projekt representatives did not respond to an email request for comment sent outside normal business hours.
