Cyberpunk 2077 speedrunners race to sex

Now that Cyberpunk 2077 has been in the hands of players for a few weeks, progress has been made in two talented but different groups of goofs. Already this week, modders have come up with a mod to change your hairstyle, as V cannot do that after leaving the character. Let’s see what the speedrunners do. Oh, they race to have sex ASAP. Of course they are.

This particular speedrun to have sex in Cyberpunk 2077 comes to you via “Tomatoanus”, a speedrunner who has also performed sex sprints in Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas. For Cyberpunk 2077, it has reached an impressive 10 minutes and 27 seconds.

Most of the run isn’t too hot, of course. As Tomato explains, there are some cutscenes that cannot be skipped early in the game that take up about half the playing time. After that, however, he can use a glitch called “fist sliding”. I’m tempted to say it’s exactly what you think it is, but given the context it might not be.

Here’s how he climbs a building using his fists like the little propellers that could.

Switching quickly enough between a weapon and his fists puts him in a state where punches propel him forward. Why not?

That’s not the only hacking technology featured here. It is also able to take advantage of what is called a “drop damage cancellation” and yes, this is what you think it is. After sliding off a ledge, V avoids fall damage by landing on a street sign first and then sliding to the ground. With these combined forces, Tomato can escape the prologue area where he should be trapped. After that, he is able to slide his fist to a love bar faster than his feet could naturally carry him, and at 10:27 am introduces one of the ‘JoyToy’ sex workers.

Tomatoanus explains that the tricks shown here helped the Cyberpunk speedrunners take this particular route from a two-hour completion time last week to its 10 minutes and change this week. It’s crazy stuff, but Tomato’s speedrun videos are pretty neat. He explains the how and why of each trick quickly but clearly so that I always learn something about the game.

In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, it was pretty buggy at launch. It’s not all bad though, as you can read more in Graham’s Cyberpunk 2077 review.
