Governor Cuomo’s ex, Sandra Lee, addressed her followers on social media just hours after he revealed sexual harassment allegations against him as “ healing ” words within days.
“I am sending peace and loving healing greetings to everyone from Malibu! The best sunsets ever, thank God for the ocean! Lee posted on Instagram Saturday night, next to a photo of a beach.
The post was posted hours after The New York Times revealed that Cuomo’s 25-year-old former assistant, Charlotte Bennet, is accusing the 63-year-old governor of asking her inappropriate personal questions at work – telling her he was open to relationships with women in their twenties and make her feel like he wanted to date her.
The allegations were made days after another former assistant, Lindsey Boylan, publicly accused the governor of attempting to kiss her on the mouth in his New York City office in 2018. She also said he suggested they play “strip poker.” during a flight on its official state plane in October 2017.
Bennett said the interactions took place at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic – months after his fall of 2019 breakup with Lee, who he dated for 14 years.
Lee, 54, said in April that she was still in daily contact with the governor.
“He’s still my husband,” she told the Today show. “Neither of us, as far as I know, has been on a date.”
Around the same time, Cuomo reportedly came to Bennett – who grew up in Westchester County and is about the same age as Cuomo’s daughters.
Bennett told the Times that the governor told her at a June rally at his Albany office that he was lonely and “can’t even hug anyone,” before hitting her on who she hugged last.
Cuomo responded in a statement to Bennett’s allegations on Saturday, as calls for an investigation into the governor’s behavior were reinforced.
“I never made any progress towards Ms. Bennett, nor did I ever intend to do anything that was inappropriate,” said Cuomo. “The last thing I ever wanted was to make her feel the things being reported.”
