Cubans can get up 15 thousand pesos in one day at the island’s ATMs, from January 1, 2021, as announced by the Banco Metropolitano de Cuba.
The operations have a limit of 5,000 Cuban pesos, so up to three extractions can be made in one day with this amount.
With a lower amount, up to 10 operations per day can be performed with the same magnetic card as long as it does not exceed 15 thousand pesos in total.
For the electronic operations made with magnetic cards, such as Transfermóvil, POS and Enzona, the limit is extended to 30 thousand pesos in one day and 20 daily operations may be performed that do not exceed this value in total. Operations worth 30 thousand pesos can also be performed in one go.
The measure will be launched with the onset of monetary regulation that will begin across Cuba from January 1 and will imply not only the exit from the circulation of the CUC, but also the price increase of many of the basic services.
The Cimex Corporation also reported that from January 1 Cubans using the TuEnvío platform should update it with the new version of Transfermóvil (V. 201229), which will be available from noon and which will allow “the correct functioning of purchases on our electronic trading platform”.
The aforementioned platform had already announced that, due to changes in the monetary system, their services were suspended on December 31 and January 1. There will also be home delivery of existing orders during these two days.
