This Sunday, January 10, starting at 7:06 p.m., Cruz Azul will jump on the field of the TSM Corona stadium and take on Santos Laguna., in a match that will be valid for Day 1 of the Guard1anes 2021 League MX Tournament and that includes Juan Reynoso’s debut as a heavenly coach.
The Peruvian DT was made official a week ago and has been training the blue players since last Monday: 22 registered, several from the U-20 and Hidalgo subsidiary, and two unauthorized by Liga MX returning from their loans abroad.
Reynoso barely gets to know the players, but pointed this out at a press conference “We can’t think later if we don’t start improving weaknesses, making up for them and reinforcing how well this team is doing. I’m amazed at the talent I’d already seen as a rival, and I’m clear on where to aim to do damage and what to come up with so they don’t complicate us“.
Nowadays, there are two victims of Cruz Azul’s active squad: Elías Hernández and Adrián Aldrete, who tested positive for Covid-19 a week ago and they are still isolated and in preventive quarantine, so they will not be available to face Santos.
With that in mind, the likely eleven will be there for this weekend José de Jesús Corona; Juan Escobar, Pablo Aguilar, Julio Domínguez, Joaquín Martínez; Luis Romo, Yoshimar Yotún; Orbelín Pineda, Roberto Alvarado; Santiago Giménez and Jonathan Rodríguez.

Here’s how Cruz Azul would form against Santos this Sunday. (Go blue)
