Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United in 2003 was considered the best in Premier League history.
Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen as the best addition to the Premier League Sky Sports. The Portuguese player, who currently plays for Juventus, was notable for his time at Manchester United and for what he has achieved in his career.
According to experts at Transfer Show, one of the popular television shows, CR7 was one of four Manchester United players to make the top 10 on the list, while the other three were Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney.
The Red Devils signed the Portuguese player from Sporting Lisbon in August 2003 for £ 12 million at the time. Cristiano spent six years at Old Trafford, winning eight titles, including three Premier League and one UEFA Champions League.
In the remainder of his career, the Portuguese has collected more than 750 goals and 30 club trophies, as well as five Ballons d’Or, and has twice been named the best player in FIFA.
“When they signed him, I thought he was just another contract with United,” said Sky Sports News presenter Tom White. “Don’t listen to a word I say from now on.”
Second place went to Thiery Henry, who played for Arsenal. He was signed for £ 11 million in 1999 and spent eight years with the Gunners giving joy at Highbury Stadium. He won two titles and broke the club’s goal record.
For his part, Sergio Agüero, who won Manchester City the title in 2012 with a screeching goal, is 19th on the list. “I have a beautiful wife and our wedding day was spectacular,” said Skye Sports News presenter Mike Wedderburn. “It was a miracle to see my daughter born, but when Agüero scored, it was the best day of my life.”
