COVID NY Update: State Investigates Parcare Community Health Network into Possible Vaccine Fraud

NEW YORK (WABC) – A New York-based medical provider is under investigation for allegedly fraudulently obtaining and distributing a COVID-19 vaccine, said Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker in a statement Saturday.

Zucker said the Department of Health has been notified of reports on the Parcare Community Health Network in Orange County.

Reports allege that the network has somehow fraudulently obtained doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and transferred them to other facilities in the state, in violation of state guidelines.

Also worrying is that the vaccines were reportedly given to members of the public and not primary health care workers or nursing home residents and staff, as determined by the state.

“We are taking this very seriously and DOH will assist state police in a criminal investigation into this matter. Anyone who knowingly participated in this plan will be held accountable for the full extent of the law,” said Zucker.

ABC has reached out to ParCare Community Health Network for comment; their site describes their work as “a multi-specialty center providing services such as primary care, internal medicine, dermatology, physiotherapy and pediatrics; helping our patients maintain optimal health and prevent potential illness.”

In October, the New York Test and Trace Corps announced an expanded partnership with ParCare to provide free COVID-19 tests and resources to the Orthodox Jewish community.
