New cases of COVID-19 in Canada’s most populous province could grow more than sixfold, to 30,000 a day in early June if public health measures are weak and vaccination coverage remains the same, a panel of experts advised the province of Ontario on Friday.

Even if measures to control the virus are “moderate,” the number of patients in ICUs in Ontario could reach in May 2000, up from 695 on Friday.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario told doctors last week that they will soon have to decide who can and cannot enter intensive care.
