These songs are from the CDC and are updated Monday through Friday. These counts may differ from individual state counts due to reporting delay.

In the US, where the outbreak has entered its deadliest stage ever and the death toll has risen to about 375,000, in recent days politicians and health officials have complained that too many shots were left unused on the shelves due to overly rigid compliance under federal guidelines putting an estimated 24 million health workers and nursing home residents at the front of the queue.

Experts say as many as 85% of the population will need to be vaccinated to achieve “herd immunity” and overcome the outbreak.

Many states are responding by opening the line to others and ramping up the pace of vaccinations, in some cases offering them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
