DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Public Health reported a total of 575 COVID-19-related hospital admissions in the state on Friday. That number is down 25 from yesterday.
From 10.30 a.m. on Friday, the use of ICU and respiratory equipment has also decreased. The state reported 117 patients in the ICU (up from 134 reported this time on Thursday) and 63 patients on ventilator (compared to 69 on Thursday).
The state reported in the past 24 hours that an additional 2,132 Iowans tested positive for COVID-19, and the state added 7 more reported COVID-19-related deaths.
According to state data this morning, a total of 282,435 Iowans have tested positive for COVID-19 and 3,898 Iowans have died with the virus since the pandemic began.
These data show that COVID-19 was the underlying cause of 3,578 of the deaths, and COVID-19 was a contributing factor in 320 deaths.
In total, 241,228 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19.
According to data provided by the state, 4,629 tests have been reported in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,359,654 tests have been conducted since the start of the pandemic. According to this data, the positivity rate in the past 24 hours was 46.1 percent.
