Country singer Morgan Wallen apologizes for saying N word in leaked video: ‘I’m ashamed and sorry’

Country singer Morgan Wallen has apologized after a video surfaced in which he used the N word.

“I’m ashamed and sorry,” said Wallen, 27, in a statement shared with Fox News.

“I have used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are never excuses to use this kind of language. I sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better,” he continued.

Wallen’s remorse comes after TMZ posted a video of the “Wasted On You” singer coming home with a group of friends on Sunday night. The clip shows Wallen walking up his driveway referring to one of his friends as the N word and using other profanity.

The country star and his friends were reportedly in Nashville before returning to his home around midnight. TMZ reports that the group was caught on camera by a neighbor who woke up to the sound of their conversation and honking car horns.

This isn’t the first time the entertainer has had to apologize after being the subject of leaked footage. In the fall of 2020, the 27-year-old was blocked from a scheduled performance on “Saturday Night Live” after a video of Red Light District surfaced at a busy maskless party amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He called the show’s decision to remove him from the show “difficult” but “necessary.”

“I respect the show’s decision because I know I’ve put them in danger,” Wallen continued. “I am taking ownership of this. I want to apologize to ‘SNL’, to my fans, to my team for providing these opportunities and I have abandoned them.”

However, he was invited to perform on the show two months later.

And in May 2020, the “Whiskey Glasses” crooner was arrested after being thrown from Kid Rock’s bar in downtown Nashville.

According to The Tennessean, after being thrown out of the bar, Wallen began to engage in verbal fights with passersby on the street, which officers watched. After allegedly refusing to run away with his friends when given the opportunity by the police, they decided that the Red Light District was “a danger to himself and the public” and took him into custody.
