Countess of Wessex volunteers at a Covid-19 vaccination center

Sophie Wessex volunteered at a vaccination center during the lockdown to help the rollout of Covid-19 across the country.

The Countess of Wessex, 56, the Grand President of St. John Ambulance and a charity volunteer, joined the helpers in a center in southwest London on Thursday after her training.

She would like to work in a hands-on manner during the massive vaccination program, which St John Ambulance supports, and is believed to be proud to be part of the charity’s growing team of volunteers.

During her first shift on Thursday, Sophie was photographed eagerly talking to people and offering support while they received the Covid-19 shot.

Sophie, who is married to the queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, was seen providing the patient reassurance and essential information during the vaccination process.

She wore a green St John Ambulance T-shirt to distinguish herself as a volunteer and kept herself protected by wearing a disposable mask while on duty.

A spokeswoman for the St. John Ambulance said: “Like many of our existing and long-term volunteers, the Countess of Wessex has received the required training to become a care volunteer in support of the NHS vaccination program.

“We are delighted to welcome the Countess, as Grand Chairman of St. John Ambulance, to a growing team of more than 10,000 volunteers who are now being trained and deployed at NHS vaccination centers across England in an extraordinary collective effort to stop the pandemic. . ‘

St John Ambulance is helping implement the NHS Covid-19 vaccination program and expects to train approximately 30,000 vaccination volunteers by this spring.

Sophie has been at the forefront of the royal family’s response to the ongoing pandemic and has previously been hailed as a ‘royal key worker’ for her volunteer work.

Last June, she visited St John Ambulance’s Operational Support hub to help organize PPE shipments for ambulance and hospital staff across the UK.

Joe Little, editor-in-chief of Majesty, said earlier of her volunteer work during the crisis, “She’s making a difference in a very understated, very” Sophie “way.”

Meanwhile, Peregrine Armstrong-Jones of Bentley’s Entertainment, who was helped by the royal family in organizing meals for NHS employees, told PEOPLE magazine in June last year, “ There’s no fanfare. These are private visits that she does in her own private time.

“When she leaves our kitchen, she usually does more projects in different hospitals.”

A friend added: ‘She was raised by her parents and there wouldn’t be a free ride in her family. She was not born to be the eldest daughter of a duke and duchess and find a great marriage and polish up her tiaras. ‘

Last summer, the Royal – who is a mother to Lady Louise, 17, and James, Viscount Severn, 13, – also joined The Saints Foundation to pack food and recipe packs for the vulnerable.

“A real privilege to show The Royal Family how we are changing lives in and around Southampton.”

Earlier this month, the Earl of Wessex, 56, gave an insight into what lockdown was like for himself and his wife, especially with homeschooling for their two children.

Speaking to Sky News, Prince Edward said his teenage children were ‘chalk and cheese’ when it comes to homeschooling, admitting that his daughter Louise ‘struggled’ while her younger brother James thinks it is ‘fantastic’.

The Queen’s youngest son, who lives in Bagshot Park in Surrey, explains: “The oldest, Louise, she had her GCSEs interrupted last year, so we went through all that pain that we suddenly took all of that away.

‘And so she struggles a bit with online learning because she prefers to be with everyone … To be honest, my youngster loves being at home and online.

‘I have to say the half term came at just the right time because it was very interesting the frustrations that were starting to show – and I think we weren’t the only family who had experienced that. I count our blessings that we are lucky where we are. ‘
