Just a few months after that some professional Counterattack players were banned from betting on their own matchesthe Esports Integrity Commission has issued sanctions “against 35 players for betting related offenses ”.

These crimes took place in Australia, North America and Europe, and the ESIC is working with the police in every area, especially Australia, where things like this can be break the law.

While the ESIC says the sanctions are not yet an example of match-fixing, they add that “there is a high chance that it will charge match fixing costs resulting from the ongoing investigation ”.

The prohibitions, which vary in severity from 12 months to 60 months, are for a combination of players betting on their own matches, bets against their team in league and simply generally bet on matches in competitions they are a part of.
