The Oregon Health Authority reported another death related to the coronavirus on Sunday, while a server error delayed processing of COVID-19 test results on Saturday.
As a result of the delay, the state reported just 111 new confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. Officials expected the total number of reported Monday to be higher than normal as a result. It was not clear how many tests were processed.
The fatal case reported on Sunday brings the state’s death toll to 2,155. Across the country, nearly 500,000 people have died from COVID-19.
The new numbers come as Oregon prepares to open up COVID vaccinations to residents 70 and older. They are the third wave of Oregon seniors to have been offered the vaccine. That group of about 212,000 Oregonians can schedule a vaccination appointment starting Monday.
Oregon ranks third for the percentage of seniors who vaccinated it among 31 states with similar data. Only 21% of Oregonians aged 70 and older received at least one dose of vaccine since last week.

Who died: COVID-19’s 2,155th death in Oregon is an 84-year-old man from Clackamas County who tested positive on Feb. 16 and died at Kaiser Westside Medical Center Hospital on Feb. 20. According to the Oregon Health Authority, he had unspecified underlying health conditions.
Who’s in the hospital: The state reported that 166 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were hospitalized on Sunday, three more than Saturday. Of these, 44 coronavirus patients were in intensive care, seven less than Saturday.
Vaccines administered: Oregon has received 802,404 first and second doses administered out of 924,575, representing 87% of its supply. Oregon reported 21,202 newly administered doses, including 17,894 on Saturday and the remainder from previous days.
Since it started: Oregon has reported 152,818 confirmed or suspected infections and 2,155 deaths, one of the lowest per capita numbers in the country. To date, the state has reported more than 3,477,134 lab reports of tests.
