Control is coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC this week

As if I wasn’t already a huge backlog of cool stuff to play on Game Pass, Microsoft revealed that Control arrives Thursday on Xbox Game Pass for PC. Remedy’s spooky inter-dimensional shooter is already out on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and even Xbox Game Pass for console, so it was really just a matter of time. I’m excited to jump back in.

The Game Pass Twitter account announced the good news yesterday, saying it would be available on the subscription service on Thursday, January 21 – in just three days.

The game puts you in the shoes of Jesse Faden, a woman dealing with strange monsters in a mysterious place called the Federal Bureau of Control. You can do this with guns or super powers. I played a small part of it myself and I really enjoyed throwing things with my head.

Brendy (RPS at peace) thought the same in his Control review: “Most battles are fun flute parties. Control is a very useful shooter. It feels good in the finger bits, you know? And there are a lot of wobbly visual effects that make your powers feel like slick Hollywood super bullshit. “

Unfortunately, with news of a cool new addition comes news that some games have also been discontinued. A quick look at the Xbox app will tell you that Sea Salt, Gris, Fishing Sim World: Pro Tour, Final Fantasy XV, and Indivisible are all hitting the road on February 1st.

I’m sorry, but look at that delighted man holding that beast of a fish. What is this post actually about and why isn’t it about him and his giant friend.

If you’re looking for more good’uns to stick around in January, What Remains Of Edith Finch hit Xbox Game Pass for PC last week, and Among Us and Monster Train also joined the service last month.

As always, you can get an Xbox Game Pass subscription for just £ 1 / $ 1 for your first month, then up to £ 8 / $ 10 monthly thereafter. It’s: a great deal.
