The Tennessee nurse who passed out in front of the camera after receiving her COVID-19 vaccine in December is not dead – but tell legions of doubters on social media.
Condolences are pouring in from all over the world mourning the death of 30-year-old mother of two Tiffany Dover – though she is still very much alive, a fact that her family and the Chattanooga hospital have publicly echoed, though not with much luck.
The culprit behind the ongoing disinformation campaign appears to be anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists in general.
“I’m really disgusted with people right now,” Dover’s sister-in-law wrote on Instagram recently, according to the Daily Beast. “TIFFANY IS LIVE AND FINE. ”
But that doesn’t stop some non-believers from musing that pictures of Dover’s hair part in various places could somehow prove she’s dead.
One doubter even started a Facebook page entitled “Where’s Tiffany Dover?”. Currently this page has 5400 members.
This group is only for confirmation that Tiffany Dover is safe. We are only asking for concrete proof that she is still very much alive, ”the page says.
Dover passed out in front of the camera in mid-December after receiving an injection of Pfizer in her arm as part of a pro-COVID-19 immunization effort by CHI Memorial Hospital.
The nurse later told local TV that it is not uncommon for her to pass out when she feels pain.
Still, rumors that she died have turned so far that her hospital was forced to put them to bed in public – twice.
It tweeted on December 18 that she was “ home and doing fine, ” The Daily Beast said, and three days later, released video of the nurse in the hospital with other staff holding date of day signs.
A representative for Chattanooga Police Department told the Daily Beast that its own social media sites are peppered with requests to ask if the agency is investigating whether Dover is dead.
“The police are not involved at all because there is no crime, no death, nothing,” said the spokeswoman.
