In February, Blizzard announced Diablo II: Resurrected for multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. Since then, there has been very little information about the remaster of this iconic classic.
But now, in a new update, the company has confirmed that its first-ever technical alpha for the game (for PC players) will start next Friday and will run through April 12. It gives players access to Acts I and II and allows them to select Amazon, Barbarian and Sorceress class.
An FAQ on the same page confirms that console players will be included in future game tests:
Q: Why is the Alpha Tech PC only available? Can console players test Diablo II: Resurrected?
A: Diablo II: Resurrected is launching on Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. We will include console players in our future game testing phase.
To make up for this, there will be live streams of the Technical Alpha on Twitch.tv and YouTube gaming this weekend.
The FAQ also mentions how the technical alpha is single player only, notes how the final version of the game will allow “offline play” in single player mode, will include “old in-game movies” as placeholders, won does not allow progress to be transferred, and does not allow save files to be imported.
While Blizzard says there is currently “no release date,” it promises it will arrive in 2021. Are you looking forward to returning to the world of Sanctuary? Leave a comment below.
