Conmebol’s qualifying tournaments are being postponed after failing to reach an agreement with FIFA

The Conmebol qualifiers Heading to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, they have been officially suspended after failing to reach an agreement with the FIFA president on Saturday, Gianni Infantino.

Through a statement on its social networks, the South American confederation has revealed that this decision is due to the fact that they will not be able to count on the players who play in European competitions, especially from the Eredivisie Y Bundesliga.

The CONMEBOL Council has decided to suspend the double date of the Qatar 2022 qualifiers in March. The decision is due to the inability to have all South American players on time.

Likewise, the statement indicates that FIFA will analyze the rescheduling of the dates scheduled for the end of March. It should be remembered that several technicians and leaders of the aforementioned leagues refused to loan their players because they had to do a ten-day quarantine once they returned from their international obligations.
