With the primary goal of promoting football and competition across the region, the Concacaf announced that on Thursday afternoon Champions League of clubs is played in a different format to the Season 2023-2024.
The idea is that in the last semester of 2023, a group stage will be played by regions, and in the first six months of 2024 the final stage, in a tournament that includes the participation of 50 teams.
The stage and regional classification It is played like this:
- North America: there will be 20 teams divided into four groups of five clubs each. First and second place go straight to the round of 32, with three more coming in this phase, which will come from a jump-off after the group phase.
- Central AmericaThere will also be 20 clubs divided into four groups of five, with the distinction that only four teams will qualify in this area, which will be the result of the clashes between the first four and the second best places.
- Caribe: in the region, 10 teams participate in two groups of five. The best of each sector will play a key to defining the club that will represent them in the round of 16 of the competition.
In the final stage, there will be a total of 16 clubs including these: 11 from North America, four from Central America and one from the Caribbean. The duels are a direct elimination and the final is played in one match.
