“Cobra Kai” actress Courtney Henggeler was about to leave Hollywood when she landed a role in the Netflix series.
“My husband told me I couldn’t quit because we got our health insurance through SAG,” said the 42-year-old actress who has guest-starred in the past decade.
“He was like, ‘Stay there a little longer until we can find our next step in health insurance.’ ”
Fortunately for Henggeler, a week later, she was brought in to play alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka in “Cobra Kai,” in which she played Macchio’s on-screen wife, Amanda LaRusso.
“I definitely made his name one word for the first two seasons of filming,” she admitted of Macchio. “He was like, ‘Call me Ralph.'”
But Henggeler – who has appeared in series like “The Big Bang Theory,” “Mom” and “Happy Endings” – further confessed growing up that it was Zabka’s character, the villainous Johnny Lawrence, who stole her heart in the original movie. 1984.
