Cleveland Clinic suspends appointments for vaccines in Martin County, Weston

STUART, Fla. Cleveland Clinic Florida announced on Thursday that it has reached the COVID-19 vaccine supply limit and has suspended scheduled appointments in Martin County North and South hospitals and Weston Hospital, although Indian River Hospital continues to schedule appointments when supplies allow.

Martin Health has approximately 2,000 vaccinations and 2,200 Weston Hospital vaccinations scheduled for the coming week and will resume patient scheduling when additional supplies are available.

“Our appointment call centers have seen an extremely high number of calls since opening Wednesday, December 30, 2020 for patients meeting the criteria for vaccination under an executive order from Governor Ron DeSantis,” Cleveland Clinic wrote in a press release.

“We are working closely with the state of Florida to receive additional vaccines early next week.”

The Cleveland Clinic Florida region announced on Tuesday that it would begin planning COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday.

Vaccinations are by appointment only for those who meet the following criteria:

  • Cleveland Clinic patients over age 65
  • Cleveland Clinic patients with certain high-risk medical conditions who are at risk for serious illness from COVID-19. This includes patients with obesity, cancer, COPD, chronic kidney disease, immunocompromised state, heart disease, sickle cell disease, pregnancy, and type 2 diabetes
  • Hospital patients who meet the criteria and are discharged from the hospital
  • Community caregivers and first responders.

Patients who meet the criteria can call and schedule their first COVID-19 vaccine dose. The second dose is scheduled after administration of the first.

Patients at Cleveland Clinic locations in Broward, Palm Beach, and Indian River counties can call 954-659-5950 by arrangement.

Cleveland Clinic Martin Health patients can schedule their vaccination by calling 772-419-3308.
As of Monday, Cleveland Clinic has vaccinated more than 2,800 health care providers across the region. Those healthcare providers will receive a second dose after 28 days.

“We are grateful to be able to provide this vital protection to our healthcare providers, our health partners and the patients we serve,” said Dr. Conor Delaney, CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “This is a critical step in our ability to protect our communities and manage the impact of the COVID-19 virus.”
