The Minister of Education (DE), Elba Aponte Santos, indicated that classes for the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year will resume next Monday, January 11, while school staff will start working from today, Friday.

The official said in a press release that the classes will be conducted in virtual mode, primarily through the Teams platform, for which she is calling on parents or guardians to have the student’s username and password ready.

“ Initially the lessons will be in remote mode, but we will work with a detailed plan with the Ministry of Health and National Guard for the COVID-19 vaccination process to reopen schools staggered and, above all, safe for our children young people and staff. It is a responsibility that I take on with great determination and determination, ”said Aponte Santos in written statements.

Regarding the vaccination process, the official recalled that the DE conducted a survey involving 71% of all agency workers. Of that total, 88% indicated that they wanted to be vaccinated. Staff are duly informed of the days they must attend for the administration of the vaccine.

The secretary, in turn, remembered that From 11 January, the student’s study progress report will be generated and sent by email.

The grades are sent by grade, starting at the primary level and continuing with the secondary level. The agency estimated it will take about five days to be fully filed. Parents or guardians must verify that the email registered in the online registration platform is available to receive the grades.

“It is also important to mention that you can contact the school if you did not receive the report card by January 15 or if you have any questions about it,” he added. Education reported that, as part of the start-up agenda for the teaching staff, two talks will be offered through the Teams platform aimed at managing and controlling emotions.

“The first lecture, to be delivered by school psychologists today, January 8, will be for school staff and will address the topics of emotion management, change management, and identification of students requiring special attention. The second lecture will be offered to students of all levels and will focus on managing emotions, ”the statement said.
