Clark County reported eight new deaths from COVID-19 on Friday as the average number of new cases fell to its lowest level since October, according to Clark County Public Health.
Public Health said that among the fatalities were two women in their 60s with underlying conditions, one man in their 70s with underlying conditions, and three women and two men aged 80 or older, with all but one men with underlying conditions.
Ten people died from COVID-19 since February 5, up from 20 in the previous week and 16 in the week ending January 29. COVID-19 is responsible for 212 deaths so far, according to public health data.
Public health reported 29 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number to 17,735 so far.
There had been an average of about 48 new cases per day since February 5, down from about 77 cases per day the previous week and about 94 cases per day for the week ending January 29. The number of cases peaked in the week ending January 8. with an average of about 180 new cases per day.
The number of new cases this week was the lowest since the seven days ended Oct. 23, when public health reported an average of about 43 new cases per day.
The number of active cases fell to 351 on Friday, from 376 on Thursday, showing a continued drop in the number of people still in isolation, according to public health data.
The number of hospital admissions has fallen slightly, with 33 people hospitalized with COVID-19, from 37 on Thursday, and six people in hospital awaiting test results, up from 14 on Thursday.
On Friday, 84.4 percent of licensed ICU beds in Clark County were occupied, up from 85.9 percent on Thursday.
