Civil servants must justify travel expenses and return what is left

The government invests approximately RD $ 1,500 million per year in travel expenses for civil servants. Therefore, a system is being implemented to control the travel expenses paid to officials when they travel in the performance of their duties.

The announcement was made by the Presidency’s Administrative Minister, José Ignacio Paliza, who added that after arriving in the country, officials have five days to report on what they spent the daily allowances on and to return the remaining money to the single account of the National Treasury.

With this measure, the government would save 60% of these invested resources in travel costs, according to Paliza.

In addition, the payment of first class tickets is limited to any official and those who wish to travel in a class other than tourists must complete the flight ticket using their own means.

“We want to generate savings and deliver the right message,” Paliza said at a press conference in the Orlando Martínez room at the National Palace.

Clarified knock so that there would be some exceptions.
