Colorado is one of the states that had to delay vaccinations due to the storm’s impact on a Tennessee distribution center, officials said.
“Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is working with Colorado’s health care providers and local public health agencies across the state to make adjustments in the coming days to ensure appointments and clinics don’t have to be canceled,” a state press release read.
Ahead of Presidents Day weekend, Colorado on Friday requested and received doses scheduled for this week, but the state’s allocation of 133,000 vaccines expected to arrive Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be affected.
“This decision helps us to have enough on hand to work with suppliers to move doses to avoid cancellations,” the press release said.
Florida
About 2,000 people in Miami-Dade County will not receive their scheduled second dose due to supply delays due to weather, said Rachel Johnson, communications director at the Mayor’s Office.
The second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to be delivered on Thursday have not arrived, Johnson tells CNN.
All affected have been made aware of the delay, Johnson said, and were told that once the vaccine arrives, their appointment will be rescheduled.
Georgia
The Georgia Department of Public Health received a notification from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines arriving early this week would be delayed by manufacturers due to the harsh winter weather, DPH said in a press release.
As a result, many statewide health care providers, including health departments, are being forced to reschedule appointments for vaccination. Rescheduling of appointments will depend on when shipments resume and when the vaccine arrives in Georgia. week will continue, ”the DPH said release.
Illinois
In Chicago, all city-run vaccine sites were closed Tuesday due to winter weather, and appointments there will be rescheduled, city officials said.
The Cook County health system, which also includes the Chicago suburbs, told CNN that all of its vaccination sites would be shut down, except three that the system operates within the city limits.
The delay came after the Covid-19 shipments entering the area were delayed when more than a foot of snow fell between Sunday night and Tuesday morning, the Chicago Department of Public Health said.
Ahead of winter weather and adverse road conditions, Illinois ordered the Covid-19 vaccine to be delivered to its “Strategic National Stockpile Receipt, Store, and Stage site,” according to a state press release.
The state also said it has been informed by the federal government to anticipate delays in vaccine delivery this week due to winter storms, the press release said.
Kentucky
The weather will cause some delay in vaccination in the state, Governor Andy Beshear said Monday night. He said he hopes the state will be able to make up for the delay next week, after the latter disappears again.
In Louisville, the LouVax vaccination site in the Broadbent Arena was set to close on Tuesday, the city’s mayor said.
Mississippi
All drive-thru vaccination sites of the Mississippi State Department of Health would be closed Tuesday, with the exception of the site of the Coast Coliseum in Harrison County, the department said.
Missouri
“Missouri is experiencing harsh winter weather that makes driving dangerous and threatens the health and safety of anyone exposed to the cold. These conditions are also likely to delay some vaccine shipments,” Parson said. “We want to protect the safety of everyone involved in the mass vaccination events, from the patients being vaccinated to the volunteers who generously support these events.”
Nevada
The state was notified that the disruption could occur and is working with the health districts and pharmacies that may be affected.
“We ask the Nevadans to remain patient at this point,” the tweet read.
Ohio
Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Tuesday that shipments of Covid-19 vaccines delivered to suppliers directly from Pfizer and Moderna could be delayed for one to two days due to severe weather.
Smaller shipments from the Ohio Department of Health’s Receipt, Store and Stage (RSS) Warehouse are delivered with a two-hour delay, DeWine said.
Some vaccine providers have canceled appointments due to snow emergencies, DeWine said, but many are continuing to vaccinate. “So we will continue to monitor the weather and shipments for the rest of the week, but as we have seen, we expect shipments to slow,” he said.
Oklahoma
Some vaccination sites have adjusted opening hours or are temporarily closed during the week to “ensure that public safety is a priority,” said the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The county said it has closed its Fair Park vaccination site until Wednesday.
Harris County
The winter storm cut power to the Harris County Public Health building at around 2 a.m. Monday, and the backup generator has also shut down, leaving more than 8,400 coronavirus vaccines at risk of spoiling, said Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo Monday afternoon.
Officials quickly drew up a plan to allocate and rescue the vaccines, Hidalgo said.
Harris County officials settled in the Ben Taub, Lyndon B. Johnson and Houston Methodist Hospitals in Houston, as well as Rice University and the Harris County Jail as the locations to receive the vaccine at night, Hidalgo said.
San Antonio
This was the second day in a row that San Antonio delayed on-site vaccinations. During the weekend, the city decided to move the appointments from Monday to Friday.
