From 1 May it is no longer possible to make deposits into Citibanamex debit accounts in Oxxo stores or payments to credit cards of this bank.
This is because Citibanamex no longer extended its alliance with Oxxo for this year.
“Due to an overhaul in our network of correspondents and the solid growth of digital banking, the alliance with Oxxo was not renewed this year,” the bank told users.
Customers will be able to conduct their business through mobile banking, BancaNet, ATMs and bank branches, as well as at 7 Eleven, Casa Ley, Farmacias del Ahorro, Farmacias Guadalajara, Telecomm and the Chedraui and Al super self-service chains.
Oxxo said the suspension of this service at its stores was due to “causes beyond the chain’s control”, but that cash withdrawals from the Citibanamex and Saldazo businesses will continue to be made regularly.
Several users were dissatisfied with the news, as some believed that the suspension of this service will affect Mexican SMEs, which depend on these types of transactions.
