Christmas Bandit Caught Small Business Theft – NBC 7 San Diego

Serpentine Cider owner Sean Harris is asking the community for help identifying a Christmas bandit.

“You feel violated, any kind of emotion,” Harris said after sharing a security video of a man stealing outdoor stoves and a canopy from the Serpentine Cider patio on Miramar’s Christmas night.

“Finally 2020 broke me. We’ve been through everything that’s happened and now this, the last week of it, ”said Harris, who thought he’d experienced the worst of 2020 after the pandemic forced two shutdowns and left the service alone.

“It’s scary at times,” said Harris’ girlfriend, Bree Steffen. Harris agreed: “It’s scary. It’s hard to watch your bank account plummet. “

And now they have been hit again.

“All the heaters were stolen, the awning was gone, some of the tables and chairs were broken, and the lights were all broken,” Harris explains.

Harris said the thief was seen unloading an extension cord and power tools, breaking the locks securing items to the patio. Harris estimates a loss of a few thousand dollars, but said the biggest loss is the damaged furniture he built with his father, who lives in the North.

“It’s just heartbreaking to see my dad and my hard work just literally go on. It will be difficult to rebuild it. My father is in his seventies. He can’t come out and help me during COVID, so I’m going to do it myself. It just won’t have the same effect as building it with my dad. And more money than we don’t already have, ”Harris said. “I really hope someone recognizes him before doing it (burglary) on someone else. If he could have done this to us for Christmas, he will be able to do it to someone else too. ”

If you recognize the man in the video, you will be asked to call the police.
