Mexican Javier López, the ‘Chofis’ had an unfortunate debut in the MLS with the fall of his team and a controversial play in which he was involved.
Javier Eduardo Lopez, better known as the ‘Chofis’, made his MLS debut this Friday and his action led to an in-game fight that opened the 2021 season of American football.
During the hour of the game he was on the field of play, López had no relevant play action, but he did launch a kick to José Guillermo ‘Memo’ Rodríguez of the Houston Dynamo, who ended between two pushes.
While the ‘Chofis’ didn’t hit the American, it was clear how he deliberately launched the kick towards Rodríguez, but the Houston Dynamo midfielder managed to move away despite facing the Mexican right away.
With a few words and nudges, the comrades of both elements came to make the fight worse, which in the end did not end in regretful events.
And last but not least, Matías Almeyda, technical director of the ‘Chofis’ at the San Jose Earthquakes, gave 60 minutes of playing time to the midfielder who had not had his best tournaments with the Chivas in the past year.
In addition, the California squad lost the game 2-1 at the start of a new campaign. Dynamo’s goals were from ‘Memo’ Rodríguez and Maximiliano Urruti, while for San Jose Paul Marie was discounted.
