Chicago police officers discovered seven children in an empty apartment on Friday afternoon when they were called to a welfare check in a building in Humboldt Park, authorities said.
At approximately 3:50 PM, agents in block 700 of North Trumbull arrived and contacted a witness who said someone was in a first-floor apartment that would otherwise be empty.
Officers found seven children: a 14-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, a 7-year-old boy, a 6-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy old girl and a 23-month-old baby.
All children were taken to AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center and are said to be in good condition, police said.
A 31-year-old woman was questioned by detectives on Friday evening.
