Chelsea player ratings
Despite the pressure from Liverpool, there is very little to do, which is testament to the performance of his defense.
Grateful to see Mané swoop in the air as he sneaks between him and Christensen for a free shot on target. But otherwise in control and brilliantly closing off the space.
Almost always in the right place. Growing with every game. Sky-high performance.
Well held on to the job of keeping up with Liverpool’s forwards and rarely caught. Part of an excellent rearguard.
Feels like a more natural fit on wingback than Hudson-Odoi. Defensively aware enough to confine Liverpool to Chelsea’s right.
Should have been penalized for handling in his box. That aside, he was crucial to Chelsea who jumped forward when he expropriated Liverpool.
Consistently makes the right choices. Passing ball to Werner for the German’s disallowed goal cut Liverpool wide open.
Very positive, but too often his decision-making failed him. Worked well in support of Mount.
Two starts in a row are encouraging for him and so almost on the score sheet when Robertson went off the line. But he was Chelsea’s least effective attacker.
Occupied a dangerous space between Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho, which Liverpool struggled to close. Wonderful goal was an example of this.
His best game in a long time and certainly his best under Tuchel. Full of energy and movement. Unfortunate to see a goal ruled out by VAR. Deserved to be on the score sheet for such a tireless display.
Christian Pulisic (Ziyech, 66 ‘) 6
Well defended from the front on emergence.
Mateo Kovacic (Mount, 80 ‘) 5
Gave Chelsea much needed energy while Liverpool pressed.
Havertz (Werner, 90 + 1 ‘) N / A
