Check out the trailer for Rugrats’ reboot heading to Paramount Plus

A Rugrats reboot is heading to new streaming service Paramount Plus this spring, ViacomCBS announced today. The show is described as a “reimagining of the classic ’90s hit,” and you can preview the new CG animation style in this trailer:

But even though the animation may look different, many of the characters should sound the same – Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Angelica Pickles, Susie Carmichael and Phil and Lil DeVille will all be voiced by their original voice actors.

According to a press release, the new show will be produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio.

Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the world, and this original version is one that we take great care of and are proud of creating a brand new audience, ”said Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation, in a statement. “Bringing together the voice behind these special characters is one of the essential parts of making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to see this talented group bring them back to life.”

The original show debuted in August 1991 and was an important part of my childhood. I’m curious how this reboot will turn out.
