Cedrick Dort does not play in the Gator Bowl

When Kentucky starts at noon tomorrow against NC State, they will do so without junior cornerback Cedrick Dort. Dort announced the news via Twitter tonight.

This morning, Coach Stoops announced that the team was 100% after completing their final round of COVID testing. It is unclear whether Dort’s status is due to opt-out or some other unforeseen circumstance.

This season, Dort has allowed seven receptions on 11 targets for 72 yards with ten tackles as well. He has two pass deviations on the year. Dort didn’t see many snaps behind Kelvin Joseph in 2020, but the South Florida Native saw a massive increase in snaps against South Carolina after Joseph opted out a few days earlier.

Kentucky is now looking for Carrington Valentine and Brandin Echols on the corner on Saturday.

It’s a pretty skimpy corner room for Brad White’s defense for Saturday.
