CDPHE cannot verify COVID-19 vaccines given at a Colorado Springs clinic, Dr. Moma Health and Wellness

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Anyone who has received a COVID-19 vaccine at a Colorado Springs clinic is being notified of new guidelines as an investigation continues.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) announced Friday that Dr. Moma Health and Wellness Clinic in El Paso County is currently suspended from the COVID vaccination program. On Tuesday, CDPHE reports that they cannot verify whether the vaccines previously administered at the site were viable because the supplier did not provide proper documentation of the temperature storage.

The suspension affected approximately 7,000 scheduled appointments. It is not clear how many people have recently received a vaccine at the clinic.

CDPHE consulted the Centers for Disease Control and recommends the following:

For people who got a single dose at Dr. Moma’s Health and Wellness Clinic:

If you received one dose of Pfizer vaccine at a Dr. Mom vaccination clinic, that dose will be considered invalid and you should receive two additional doses of Pfizer vaccine according to the timeframes below:

-An additional dose of Pfizer 21 days after your initial invalid Pfizer dose was received at Dr. Moma’s,

– and last dose of Pfizer 21 days later (e.g. 21 days after your repeat valid dose)

If you have received one dose of Moderna vaccine at a Dr. Mom vaccination clinic, that dose will be considered invalid and you will need to receive two additional doses of Moderna vaccine according to the timelines below:

Additional dose of Moderna 28 days after your initial invalid Moderna dose was received at Dr. Moma, and

-Final dose of Moderna 28 days later (e.g. 28 days after your repeat valid dose)

** If you do not know which vaccine you received from a Dr. Moma vaccination clinic, you should receive two additional doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine at the following timeframes:

-Additional dose of Moderna or Pfizer 28 days after your initial invalid mRNA dose was received from Dr. Mom, and

-Final dose of Moderna or Pfizer 28 days later (e.g. 28 days after your repeat valid dose)

Data shows that most patients only received one dose on-site, but for people who received two doses at the Dr. Momo Health and Wellness Clinic, the CDC and CDPHE recommend the following:

-If you have received two doses of Pfizer vaccine in a Dr. Moma vaccination clinic, those doses are considered invalid and you should receive an additional dose of Pfizer vaccine at least 21 days after your last COVID-19 dose.

-If you have received two doses of Moderna vaccine in a Dr. Moma vaccination clinic, those doses are considered invalid and you should receive an additional dose of Moderna vaccine at least 28 days after your last COVID-19 dose.

-If you do not know which vaccine you will receive at a Dr. Moma, you should receive an extra dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine at least 28 days after your last COVID-19 dose.

Due to a lack of clinical data, the CDC does not recommend that people receive more than three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of validity, ”reads a release from the State Joint Information Center.
