Sheldon Adelson, the multi-billionaire casino mogul and mega-donor to the Republican Party, died Monday at the age of 87.

Adelson died of complications related to the treatment he received for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, according to a Tuesday morning press release from Las Vegas Sands, the casino and resort company owned by Adelson.

Adelson, whose net worth was estimated by Forbes at around $ 33 billion, was one of the most watched donors supporting President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection.

Former President George W. Bush, to whom Adelson had previously donated, called the late entrepreneur “an American patriot, a generous charity donor and a strong supporter of Israel.”

“Sheldon was a generous benefactor of charities, especially medical research and Jewish heritage education. He will be missed by many – no more than his beloved family,” Bush said.
