Carmen Yulín Cruz is uncomfortable with the Telemundo report and Jay Fonseca responds

The Mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto, attacked today, Tuesday, against a report announced by Telemundo in the program Jay and his X-rays about matters in the municipal hospital.

The statements emerged during a press conference in which the city council expressed its rejection of the appointment of Colonel José Juan García as the new commissioner of the San Juan Municipal Police under Miguel Romero’s new administration.

However, while listing his reasons, Cruz Soto said that whoever was rumored to be appointed to head the capital’s health department endorsed his management, and the words of praise contrasted with a report that it involves going out on the program tonight “Jay y sus X Ray”, about an alleged “suite” in the municipal hospital. Considering that Jay’s reporter and his X-rays, Tatiana Ortiz, emphasized that she was there and asked several questions.

The mayor called the allegations brought to the program as “gossip” and assured that due to problems with the protocol triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, access to the hospital could not be allowed.

Then Cruz Soto began listing several awards he’d won at the American level after Hurricane María.

“The kneeling people here are upset when you deal with someone who slanders the people of Puerto Rico. They are so used to living on their knees that they don’t know how to get up,” he said.

Shortly afterward, the program’s analyst and presenter, Jay Fonseca, tweeted that the mayor “ insulted ” journalist Tatiana Ortiz for overseeing her.

“Today, Carmen insulted Yulín Cruz Tatiana Ortiz by saying that we knelt because she has received awards around the world for her great efforts while Jay and his X-rays follow her,” said the presenter.

“If you want, you can come to the show tonight to give you another prize,” he added.

Last week, the mayor had another confrontation, but with a reporter from the now-canceled gossip program “La Comay”. In this situation, at the end of the press conference, the mayor was approached about the helicopter that the municipality of San Juan is said to have lost.
