Carmelo Anthony shows his face for the Trail Blazers to beat the Sixers

Philadelphia Gary Trent scored 24 points and Enes Kanter had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead a decimated Portland Trail Blazers in Thursday’s 121-105 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Carmelo Anthony added 22 points for Portland.

Joel Embiid scored 37 points for the Sixers. Tobias Harris added 12 points and 11 boards.

Embiid expanded its credentials to be selected for the All-Star Game in a match that had no other star. Sixers guard Ben Simmons did not play due to a stiffness problem in his left calf.

Portland played without Damian Lillard (belly load) and Derrick Jones Jr. (sprained left foot). Four other players have already been excluded due to an injury – including CJ McCollum (left foot).

So the Trail Blazers only had nine available players.

Without Lillard or McCollum, Trent had two 3s and Portland beat the 76ers 40-19 in the third period.

Portland started the engagement 26th in defense, giving up 117.1 points per game. McCollum posted on Twitter, “We could climb to 22nd place in the league after this incredible performance!”

Embiid scored 31 points in the first half (made 11 of 17 shots from the field, 9 of 9 free throws) and could have made 40 if he hadn’t left the game for four minutes with a sprained right knee. Embiid startled Philadelphia after falling ill in the first period trying to block a shot.

The Cameroonian went to the locker room and returned 90 seconds after the period ended.
