Carlos Vives’ father, Luis Aurelio Vives, has passed away

On Monday, the death of Luis Aurelio Vives Echeverría, father of the well-known artist Carlos Vives, was confirmed.

News quickly spread in Santa Marta, where Aurelio developed his work as a physician and where he was widely recognized for his contributions to the city from his professional field.

Vives received medical attention in his home, surrounded by all of his relatives. His death was known to have occurred on the morning of April 5, 2021, although the causes of his death have not been revealed by his family.

Juan Enrique Vives, one of his sons, confirmed that Luis Aurelio Vives Echeverría died after coming several days with bodily harm from his advanced age.

Juan Vives assured that his father was kept under permanent medical care in his home because of his frail health condition. However, his condition worsened in recent days, resulting in his death.

“He stopped speaking and he was quite depressed. We will do the corresponding investigations to determine the exact causes of death, ”his son said in various media outlets, assuring that it cannot be ruled out that his father’s death was related to covid-19.

“Daddy thank you, just thank you. Forever in debt, I know you’re with God because you deserve it. Love you today tomorrow and forever. We’ll see us again. Fly high, Daddy,” wrote Juan Vives on his social networks.

Luis Aurelio Vives Echeverría was recognized in Santa Marta for his contribution to the development of the city in his work as an ENT specialist.
