Cardi B says cosmetic surgery has helped her get over her insecurities

Cardi B says success and being able to afford cosmetic surgery helped her overcome her childhood insecurities.

In an intimate conversation with Mariah Carey for Interview magazine, Cardi, 28, talks about growing up in the Bronx and then her fame, transforming her appearance after years of being bullied.

“I was also really skinny when I was younger, and the Bronx is all about being fat and having an a **, so young guys would say,” Look at your flat a **. You don’t have any tits. ” And I would feel so ugly and undeveloped. the WAP hitmaker tells Mariah.

Mariah, 50, asks Cardi if she feels justified now, after becoming a big star and showing all her critics how far she’s come.

‘I feel so justified. Even when I was 18 and became a dancer I had enough money to buy breasts, so any insecurity I felt about my breasts was gone.

‘When I was 20 I went to the urban strip club, and in the urban strip clubs you had to have a big butt. So I felt insecure about that. It took me back to high school. So I did my a **. And then I felt super confident.

‘When I was younger I didn’t really know how to take care of my hair. So now I’m making my own hair mask and taking care of my natural hair, and it makes me feel better, like what people said about me isn’t true. My hair wasn’t bad because it was diaper. My hair was bad because I didn’t know how to take care of it. ‘

She’s one of the most confident and outspoken female performers right now, but Cardi says she was super nervous when she started working in strip clubs.

‘When I first entered the strip club I was very shy. I was really uncomfortable. I was very embarrassed. There were times when I cried, like, “Oh my god, if my mom or my dad found out, they would be so humiliated.”

But the rapper adds that when she started stripping, it wasn’t a springboard for her, but a means of making ends meet.

‘But I needed the damn money. I was living with my boyfriend at the time, but he didn’t. I smoked weed at the time so I felt like weed was necessary.

‘I wanted money for weed and for moving. I just wanted enough money to rent a room. That’s how desperate I was to get the f ** k out of the situation I was in. ‘

Cardi continues to face bouts of embarrassment now that she’s a star, as she admitted she would be uncomfortable meeting Mariah in person.

‘A lot of celebrities invite me to places, but I’m really shy. We do this over the phone but if it were in person I wouldn’t be able to look you in the eye. That’s how nervous I get with celebrities. And sometimes my head starts to talk, like, “Oh my god, I look stupid, I feel stupid, I’m stupid.”
