Car shot at by at least two people in downtown Fresno, police say

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – Fresno police have one person in custody but are still looking for a second suspect related to a nighttime shooting in downtown Fresno.

It happened on Friday night shortly before 10:30 am in the Fresno and Ashlan area.

Police say a car was shot at by at least two people in another car, but thankfully no one in the car was injured.

The people who were shot began to track the suspects in Ashlan and then Blackstone, before the suspect’s vehicle stopped at Gettysburg and Thorne.

Both people in the car then ran away.

Fresno Police, with the help of Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies, set up a perimeter and were able to locate one of the suspects hiding under a car in someone’s front yard about 30 minutes later

A K9 helped take the 38-year-old man into custody.

Police believe that person is the shooter, but a motive for the shooting is still unknown.

The police are still looking for a second suspect who has run out of the vehicle.

Clovis police also helped search for the suspects by retrieving their drone.

It is not yet known whether the shooting is related to gangs.
