Capcom is releasing the full V-Shift tutorial for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition

It’s time to get smart

Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition players can get their hands on the new V-Shift mechanic for the first time later tonight for the first time, and now we can all see exactly how it works.

Capcom has now released SF5’s in-game tutorial for V-Shift and V-Shift Break, which is complete breaks the new mechanic, including how much damage he does and what happens if he is blocked.

As previously revealed, both V-Shift and V-Shift Break are performed by compressing heavy punches and medium kicks while a player has at least one supply of V-Gauge available.

What’s new, however, is that this confirms that V-Shift Break attacks are safe on block, on top of their extended range, so it seems like a fair tradeoff to only do reparable damage.

Speaking of damage, we also get to see a sample combo that follows the V-Shift, which does regular damage.

Not only that, but I tested it to see if post-dodge attacks are instantly mitigated, such as V-Trigger activations. However, I can confidently report that the combo appears to be doing its normal, unscaled damage.

The Break attack seems to do a similar amount of damage compared to V-Reversals, unsurprisingly too.

V-Shift is coming to SF5 in the Season 5 update, which will be officially live tomorrow, although servers will be down for maintenance from 8 p.m. PT today.
