Canoo reveals what is arguably the world’s cutest electric pickup truck

Now another California electric vehicle startup, Canoo, has unveiled a pickup truck with a “cab forward” design that places the driver almost directly above the front wheels.

Instead of a hood, the Canoo truck has a flat front like a van. This gives more space for cargo space without making the truck as a whole too big.

The Canoo truck is 184 inches long, or just a bit longer than a Toyota Corolla. It is much shorter than the Tesla Cybertuck, but the bed is only 15 cm shorter at 1.80 meters. (The Cybertuck can accommodate more people, though.) The Canoo’s cargo bed also has an extendable extension, allowing for an additional two meters in length.

The Canoo electric pick-up is designed to maximize cargo space and minimize overall length.

The body shape of the Canoo truck is similar to that of some trucks of the 50s and 60s, such as the General Motors Corvair pickup truck, the Jeep Forward Control truck, and the Volkswagen Type 2 pickup, which was based on the VW bus.

Due to the loss of the engine, there is also more storage space in the truck in addition to the loading platform. There is more for example storage space under the cabin. The door that folds down from the front of the truck can also be used as a work table, just as people often use the tailgate of a pickup.

Likewise, the doors can also be folded down from the sides of the cargo box for easier access. Those doors can also be used as a workbench.

The Canoo truck will be designed to work with camper shells that connect to the bed, the company said.

Canoo expects the truck to produce up to 600 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque from two electric motors, which is more than a V8-powered Ford F-150. The truck will be able to travel more than 200 miles for a fee, the company said.

Last February, Canoo and the Hyundai Motor Co. HYMTF announced plans to jointly develop an electric vehicle engineering platform for use in both Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

Canoo has previously unveiled two vans, one a commercial vehicle and another a “lifestyle” passenger van. The vans and the pick-up are based on Canoo’s skateboard-esque platform that allows for different body styles.

The company went public at the end of last year through a merger with a specialty acquisition company, or SPAC, and now has a market capitalization of $ 3.4 billion.
The company has not announced prices for the truck, but hopes to be able to deliver it to customers in 2023. In addition to the Tesla Cybertruck, the Canoo truck could also face competition from other startups such as Rivian, as well as traditional automakers such as Ford planning to make an electric F-150 pickup.
