Carlos Martínez and Junior Lake defined as “a team of excellent quality that the Águilas Cibaeñas have made up for for the Caribbean Series which will be set in the city of Mazatlán, Mexico from January 31 to February 6.
This Monday at 12:00 PM, the Águilas Cibaeñas started their training prior to the event that brings together the champions of Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Colombia with a large group of players.
Reinforcements Robinson Canó, Junior Lake, Jhan Maríñez, Michael de la Cruz and Carlos Paulino gathered at Cibao Stadium this Monday at noon. While the integration of the other confirmed reinforcements is expected tomorrow, Tuesday, the club reported.
Prior to the training, the players again underwent PCR tests administered by the Ministry of Health, in accordance with the protocols established for the teams going to the regional competition.
Pitcher Carlos-Tsunami-Martínez revealed he is ready to go to the box for the first game against the Criollos de Caguas, from Puerto Rico.
Martínez and Junior Lake took part in a virtual interview with the press to share their thoughts on the team and their goals during the event.
Martínez assured that if they stay healthy, the team they bring to Mexico should be in the fight for the championship title, the 22nd for the country and the sixth for the Águilas Cibaeñas team.
“We trained hard this week and we are preparing for that first game, where I have no limit on innings or pitching so far,” Martinez said during a video conference with the press.
Martínez reported that with the plan so far agreed with leader Félix Fermín, “this is a single game, but it is possible that if an additional game situation arises, it will be available to launch.”
The St. Louis Cardinals right wing in Major League Baseball will participate in a Caribbean Series for the first time. “I am very happy to be representing my country with my Eagles team.”
At his side, Junior Lake, an outfielder to the Stars, who joins the Eagles for the second time in the Caribbean Series, plans to quickly find form in a talented team.
“We have a team with talent, experience, people with names and who know how to get the job done. This is without a doubt one of the best teams formed for a Caribbean Series,” Lake said in answering one of the questions.
