Two Canadian police officers have been caught on video laughing and posing for photos in front of a dead man.
Videographer Zachary Ratcliffe documented the incident last week on a beach in Stanley Park where a deceased man lay in the sand, Canadian outlet CBC News reported.
The images showed that one of the officers was taking pictures while the other was posing in front of the body.
“I can’t really explain why these agents did this, but to see them smile and clearly not understand the seriousness of the situation, and not give the dignity and respect that a deceased person would deserve, I came across as a insensitive act, ”Ratcliffe said to the outlet.
Vancouver police said the two officers had been sent to the scene to secure the area before the coroner could arrive.
No reason has been disclosed for the man’s death, but the authorities are not treating it as suspicious.
The two agents have been transferred while the agency is investigating their alleged behavior.
“From [Monday] In the morning, the VPD transferred the two officers to non-deployable, administrative positions on the basis of Article 110 of the Police Act, while the [Office of Police Complaint Commissioner] investigation is underway, ”police spokeswoman Simi Heer told the outlet.
